Required hardware configuration
RocPro3D is only available as 64 bits version.
To install and run RocPro3D, the minimal configuration requires:
- 200 Mb free disk space
- 32 Gb RAM
- Multi-core CPU
The optimal configuration would however be:
- 1 Tb (or more) free disk space
- 64 Gb RAM (or more)
- High performance multi-core CPU, such as Intel Core iX, Intel Core ultraX, AMD RyzenX
About RAM
From version 7.0.0, the RAM amount required to carry out simulations has notably increased, mostly due to computation of:
- The exact probability maps P(propag) and P(reach), which can require huge amount of RAM for large models with many sources of blocks.
- The optimized envelopes, which at the benefit of providing envelopes population approximated quantiles, have a constant RAM cost, that can also be high for large statistics analysis raster.
About multi-core CPU
RocPro3D enables full parallel CPU calculation of trajectories. In a nutshell, the more CPU cores, the faster the computations.
About graphics card
The 3D graphics visualization in RocPro3D is based on the OpenGL graphics library. To obtain the best quality of visual effects (precision of the display) and the best comfort of use (fluidity when manipulating objects in the different views), it is strongly advised to have a dedicated 3D graphics card on your computer.
